Interning under the managing editor of Apex Magazine, Rebecca E. Treasure, my first task was to provide copy edits for these four pieces of short fiction and then submit them to Rebecca for review. While working on the copy edits, I did three passes on each story: one to familiarize myself with the content, one to provide basic edits, and a third to ensure I had addressed everything within the text that needed to be addressed.

In addition to providing copy edits for these four stories, I also worked to conduct interviews with a few of the authors that contributed to issue 149. I had direct communication with Sierra Branham, Semaj Saint Garbutt, Beth Gofer, Ai Jiang, Ruckman Ragas, Daniel Roop, and E. Thade. The interviews and insights that I collected from each individual author were then put up on Apex Magazine’s Patreon page.
